Japanese scientists just hit 91.8% efficiency in wireless EV charging — using machine learning. No more perfect parking. No more dead batteries.
Japan's breakthrough in AI-powered wireless charging technology is a significant advancement towards a fully wireless society. The research team from Chiba University has developed a machine learning-based method that ensures stable voltage output regardless of the load, a critical factor for the efficiency and reliability of wireless power transfer systems. This method, known as load-independent operation, has been shown to reduce power fluctuations to about 5% compared to 18% for conventional systems, and maintain high efficiency levels. The technology has the potential to extend beyond consumer electronics, including electric vehicles, industrial sensors, medical implants, and smart home systems, potentially eliminating the need for batteries. This innovation is a critical step toward a wireless society, reducing reliance on physical infrastructure and offering a path to smarter, more efficient, and less intrusive energy use.
