Lake Caliraya gets a 250 MW floating solar farm in 2025. It’s testing wireless power to shore — no underwater cables.
The 250 MW floating solar farm project in Lake Caliraya, Laguna, has received national significance status from the Department of Energy, which is a significant step towards its development. This project, a joint venture between Blueleaf Energy Philippines and NKS Energy Utilities, is expected to be the first utility-scale floating solar project in the Philippines. The project aims to produce 250 megawatts of power for the national grid and is part of a broader initiative to develop floating solar power farms in Laguna province. The project is also a winner in the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program 2 and is set to commence construction in late 2024, with operations anticipated to begin in 2026.
